WINTERGARDEN HOTEL, A STONE’S THROW AWAY FROM VAL BREMBANA

Sculpted by the Brembo River, Val Brembana offers marvellous green landscapes as far as the eye can see, but also villages and towns where you can stroll in timeless settings. Here you will find the enchanting village of Cornello dei Tasso, in the municipality of Camerata Cornello, located along the ancient Via Mercatorum, which connected Bergamo with Valtellina until the 1600s. The village, which can only be reached on foot, is famous for being the birthplace of the famous Torquato Tasso family and preserving the first postal stamp issued in the world.

Another stop that cannot be missed for those staying at the Winter Garden (a hotel that is a stone’s throw away from Val Brembana) is San Pellegrino Terme, a true local pearl, where you can admire beautiful art nouveau buildings, such as the Grand Hotel, the historic QC Terme thermal bath wellness center, the adjacent Municipal Casino recently reopened to the public, and finally the factory producing one of the most famous mineral waters and soft drinks in the world.

Val Brembana is also famous for its countless trails to be discovered amongst woods and peaks, routes for trekking, mountain bikes, snowshoeing, and rock climbing, but also rafting and canyoning on the river, and many outdoor activities available during both the summer and winter seasons, such as on the snow-covered ski slopes of the resorts of Piazzatorre and Foppolo.

Enchanting Lake Iseo, a natural jewel abounding in art, culture, sports and eno-gastronomy nestled in the Prealpine mountains, is located just 30 kilometres from Bergamo. Along the lakeshore you can travel the long panoramic roads by bike, car or motorcycle and visit enchanting villages and towns such as Sarnico, where you can breathe in the atmosphere of the turn of the century with its refined art nouveau villas. Don’t dare miss Lovere, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, where you can discover the neoclassical art of Canova housed in the Tadini Academy. In addition to bike and e-bike tours organized on the lake, you can book a variety of sports activities such as horseback riding and rock wall climbing, suitable for everyone. Adrenaline lovers can experience the thrill of wake and water sports (wakesurf, wakeboard, waterskate, water skiing), or enjoy a special and evocative view of the lake with hang gliding and paragliding.
